The Journey Day 3

Check Point

Connecting to God’s Family

“The Church of the Living God, is the pillar and foundation of the Truth.” –1 Timothy 3:15 The Bible says, don’t neglect the assembling of the saints. (Hebrews 10:25)   The Church is the body of Christ and this is where growth, support, structure, and stability are established.  God created us to be people of connection. Think of it in terms of anatomy, your body is composed of muscles, joints, tissues, and organs, which are all connected. If one is disconnected, it will affect the others ability to function. What we are connected to, defines who we are, what we are, and where we are going. Colossians 2:19 says; that the church is the Body of Christ and its joints and ligaments are connected and it grows as God nourishes it. Growth takes place within the body of Christ; if there is no connection then there is no growth. The Bible gives us four metaphors of the church:

  1. Gods Eternal Temple is support and Stability. (1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 2:21)
  2. The Body of Christ is life and growth (Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:4-5)
  3. Connected to Christs Power (The Vine) brings connection that keeps us Productive. (John 15:5; Galatians 5:22-23)
  4. Connected to Christs Family brings identity and purpose.   (Romans 8:16; 1 Timothy 3:15)
